The National Women’s Shelter Network (NWSN) is a growing network of over 530 women’s and family shelters, safe havens, networks, associations, and coalitions across the country serving women, children and families. Our Network spans 49 states and 3 US territories, providing access to over 17 million shelter bed nights, 27 million free meals, and serves over 1 million women, children, and families each year.
Our mission is to help women, children, and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness find shelter, supportive services, and resources through our Public Directory and NWSN Toll Free Help Line. And we help the organizations that serve them through information sharing, public awareness campaigns, innovation, sharing best practices, conducting research, providing education and capacity-building training, and identifying gaps and needs.
We help our Network Members to save and change lives. Many of the women, children, and families we serve have suffered violence and other serious trauma histories. Most have unmet medical and mental health needs. And all are struggling to survive, heal, learn, grow, keep their families intact and alive, and are too often fleeing domestic or intimate partner violence.
